PERFORMING ARTS NEWS

On Friday in week 2 the Preps, Grade 1s and Grade 2s went into the gym and held a mock Performing Arts lesson. We showed our parents and special people what activities we do to practise skills in Music, Dance and Drama. It's important in the junior years for us to experience performing every year, even when we don't have a whole school performance. We chose to group the classes across age levels so that students and families could see new things, and students could also practise their respectful audience skills.

Well done to everyone who participated and thanks to the families for your support!

The senior team, a group of 20 volunteers, helped me set up each song or game, manage the room and explain the tasks for the audience. Our first Showcase was a success partially due to these students, as they assisted the younger students so that I could focus on each activity.

Thanks to the Prep team (Lily, Aggie, Matisse, Sophie, Ella, Scarlett), the Grade 1 team (Jessica, Lauren, Ellie, Amelie), the Grade 2 team (Alice, Harley, Thao, Aimie, Vivienne) and the three team captains: Isabelle, Evie and Mia. Thanks to Vivienne our understudy, who was prepared to step into any speaking role, even though it wasn't needed on the day. A special shout out goes to our Stage Managers: Benjamin and Ginger, who kept everything running smoothly, managing each team under the pressure of performance, and making sure that I knew what to do next!

Have a look at some of the photos and videos and share our success!

PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWS

CROSS COUNTRY TEAM!

Congratulations to our Cross Country Team who competed at the Southport District Cross Country Carnival. These 21 amazing athletes all ran the best times against students from other schools in the District. I couldn't have been prouder of their determination and stamina to complete a good 2km distance for year 3 and 4 students and 3km for years 5/6. Many of our students who competed last year improved their place and time dramatically. Results and Times will be given to each student early next week. A huge thankyou to Bec Rosen and Leanne (Benjamin's mum) for supporting the team all day, it was huge effort.

Congratulations to Bronte who placed 3rd in his age level and will progress to the Beachside Division Cross Country Championships on 30th May.
