INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

Dear SMPPS families

The term is already whizzing past and the seasons are whizzing past even faster!

This week I have a survey to get some feedback from everyone.

Our focus will be on inclusion. Inclusion can take many forms, we often thing of neurodivergence as the main ‘group’ we are referring to when talking about inclusion, however we have many different ways of identifying that has implications for how we ensure other feel included. It can be from being the only one with non-brand-name runners to family make-up to belonging to a particular religion. You will notice some slight renaming of events to promote inclusion and also a consideration of events and how we have ensured we have taken the diverse identities within our community into account. We would love your ideas on any other ways we may promote inclusive practices at the school.

The SMPPS families have set up an informal WhatsApp group called Different Not Less which offers an opportunity for families who have neurodivergent children to connect and share information. There is a small group within these families who also meet face to face on occasion. The Wellbeing subcommittee are keen to hear if there are any other families who would be interested in joining this group or who have another way of identifying and would enjoy connecting with other families in the same manner.

We also have received a grant for a wonderful child behaviour expert to run a workshop for families in Term 3. We would also love to gauge families’ interests in this. Here is a website to find out more: https://www.chaostocalmconsultancy.com/

Please complete this google form by COB 26th May to express your interest in any of the above! Please note, the form will be live from 5pm today.

Lastly the Breakfast Club are looking  for volunteers on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30 -8:50am. If interested, please contact the school who will connect you with Steph and the other lovely volunteers. There is also going to be a change of location of the club, which will now be operating via the Classroom Kitchen window (drill hall). Children can continue to enter by the gym gate. We are also investigating other ways of supporting families in need via the Foodbank, so please do consider a donation to the Foodbank at your local collection point (often a supermarket) as all of it goes to support our community.

Wishing you a wonderful, safe and warm weekend!
