INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

PARENT CLUB

As you know we’ve been consulting with the community about the future of Families and Friends, our Parent Club. In the last newsletter, I made a final call out for office bearers. Unfortunately, we had no nominations, due in part, we believe, to the busy lives that most of our families lead. I do know, however, that we are a strong community and that we will always find a way to come together to support our kids and one another. With that in mind, School Council have endorsed the motion for Families and Friends to go into recession for 2023. This allows our school to trial a new approach, which will mean we can share the load and ask for a commitment for a short project. The model looks like this:

  1. A call goes out for a Project manager for each event
  2. A liaison person from the Events & Fundraising sub-committee, supports the Project Manager
  3. The project manager plans the event and calls for volunteers
  4. Our beautiful community jumps onboard to lend a hand

*Term 4 is yet to be confirmed

MOTHER’S AND VIP’s BREAKFAST

We had a magnificent breakfast for our Mums and VIPS last Friday, project managed beautifully by Amanda McConaghy.  I would like to thank Amanda for her organisation of a morning that brought smiles to Mums and VIPs across our community. Make sure you check out Amanda’s wrap up and photos from the day, in this newsletter.

IN GRATITUDE

Robert John Maguire AM RFD, commonly known as Father Bob, was an Australian Roman

Catholic priest and community worker from South Melbourne. When South Melbourne

Park Primary first opened in 2019, the community was grateful to have the Robo Bus visit the school to provide STEM lessons for our kids. This was provided by Father Bob and was a wonderful opportunity for our kids. On the passing of Father Bob on April, 19th, we would like to gratefully acknowledge his contribution to our community.

REMINDERS

  • Please ensure that all hair longer than shoulder length, is tied up. This helps significantly with the spread of head lice.
  • If you are purchasing new school shoes, please ensure that they are black. Runners for PE day can be white or black, with white soles to avoid marking the gym floor, please.
  • All mobile phones and smart watches need to be handed in to the teacher in the morning, if they are brought to school. Teachers lock these devices safely away and return them to the children at the end of the school day.
