Dear Parents and Carers

Last week I attended the Australia Catholic School Principals Conference in Wollongong. The theme of the conference was New Hope and New Horizons reflecting the timelessness of Hope within our changing world. The Hope we experience through our faith plays a significant role in enhancing our well being. This celebration of Catholic school leadership was a focus of the conference. The Keynote speakers spoke of Hope in the context of the influence of leaders.

One such speaker used the analogy of the characters involved in Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" to articulate the elements of influence. It is important to not confuse the notion of a leaders influence with manipulation.

Ben Walden (keynote speaker), spoke of the Elements of Influence:

  • Fire- Spirit (Spiritual Body) characterised by Inspiration, Values and our motivators
  • Water - Heart (Emotional Body)  characterised by Relationships, Feelings and Connecting with people
  • Earth-Body (Physical Body)  characterised by Personal Presence, Confidence and Energy
  • Air- Mind (Mental Body)  characterised by Logic and Negotiation Strategy.

One part of my role throughout the past 5 months, has been working with the student leaders discussing the way they lead and their positive influence.

Thank you to Mr Aguilera and Mrs Smith for their leadership during my absence.

COVID smart measures for schools and families

While COVID-19 remains an unpredictable virus, NSW Health advise that it will continue to present a health risk to the community. Accordingly, our school continues to implement baseline COVID-smart measures to help reduce the risk of transmission for students and staff members.

We ask that students who are feeling unwell be kept home and test, and only attend school when symptom free.

How does my child receive a Principal's Award?

Class teachers nominate students for Blue Merit Awards and are presented at the weekly assembly.  When five Blue Merit Awards have been received, students send them to the school office to be recorded and are then eligible for a Principal’s Award. When students attain their 4th Principal Award, they are awarded a Principal’s Medallion at an assembly. End of Term awards can be included as part of the 5 awards.
