i Sea, i Care: Victorian Marine Ambassadors Program at St Simon’s

The Dolphin Research Institute

Next week, we officially start our “i Sea, i Care” Victorian Marine Ambassadors Program at St Simon’s with our first workshop.

The “i Sea, i Care” School Ambassadors Program provides leadership opportunities for six of our students in Grade 5 and Grade 6. The students selected this year are our four Environmental Leaders which are Annabelle Eimermacher, Rohit Khanna, Neisha Beatty and Elijah Roughan, as well as two Grade 5 students Conor Nyholm and Shanisse Mathes. The School Ambassadors Program at St Simon’s is supported and organised by Miss Do, Miss Felsinger, Mrs Solari and Mrs Rayner.

Next Tuesday, our six student school ambassadors are meeting with many other primary school leaders to learn about the rich marine environment. We will hear from researchers from the Dolphin Research Institute, who are based on the shore of Western Port Bay at Hastings. Our peer-teaching workshops will be held at a local primary school. This will be a great opportunity for our six St Simon student ambassadors to develop the skills and self-confidence to pass their knowledge on.

We are looking forward to sharing these projects with the school community throughout the year.
