Principal's Report - Mr Pitt

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Welcome to the Week 4 Newsletter.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

The colder weather is on its way, so it is a good opportunity to ensure your child is set for winter with the correct school uniform. The winter uniform is easy – a tracksuit for boys and girls. There is also a long-sleeved t-shirt version on sale at the uniform hub for added warmth. Our classrooms are heated - and well-ventilated so students should take their jumper/ jacket off, only to put it back on when leaving the classroom.

BIKE VISITS WITH MR PITT

Over the last fortnight I visited K OLYMPIC and 4 IDALIA. Although it was a little chilly riding my bike, I had a lovely time visiting KO and 4I

  • K OLYMPIC – Last Wednesday I visited KO during a writing lesson. It was so exciting to see everyone doing their best work. Some children wrote their sentence about the hungry bear independently, whilst others needed some support from one of the teachers. I also liked hearing children talk about their learning. There are also some wonderful illustrators in KO. Thank you, KO, I had lots of fun visiting your classroom.
  • 4 IDALIA – On Tuesday afternoon I visited 4I during a numeracy lesson. Students were building on their knowledge of fractions. There were plenty of sweaty brains during this lesson. I was particularly impressed with how students could talk about their learning and explain their reasoning behind their answers.  At the end of the lesson, Miss Ida checked in on 4I’s understanding and it was pleasing to see honest responses at this time. Great job 4I!

MOTHER’S DAY STALL

I’m hoping all our mums had a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday. The children enjoyed purchasing the range of gifts on offer. A big thank you to our parent volunteers, led by Miss Michelle and Miss Samira for setting up and selling items over the two days. Without our volunteers we wouldn’t be able to have these special days at Fairvale. Thank you all so much!

REPEATED: ROAD SAFETY

We must all remember the importance of safe road safety practices. I understand that people are busy and need to be places, but I suggest families need to plan their trip to and from school each day. This will ensure the drop off and pick up is a safe one for everyone. Please consider using Wolseley Street (although very busy) as it has a designated ’Kiss and Drop’ zone every day. Ensure that you follow the road rules; fines are expensive and almost always occur due to one wrong decision. Police officers are currently monitoring the traffic in and around our school. You do not want to be booked - the fines are very expensive.

REPEATED: STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK

All adults on site will be healthy and ready to work and we expect the same from our children and their families. If children are unwell at school, you or your nominated emergency contact will need to collect them immediately. Please make sure your contact details are up to date. Check out the link below.
