Junior School Report
Junior School News
We are fast approaching the end of the term and it’s great to see our students immersed in their learning and growing. Our Junior School students are taking the opportunities to participate in interschool sports, KIOSC activities, and classroom learning.
Some of our students have been participating in the Da Vinci Decathlon. This program was first offered by our college in 2022 to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students in a competition entered predominantly by high achieving independent school students. This week a team of our Year 7 students participated on Tuesday and a Year 8 team on Wednesday. Next week our Year 9 and 10 students on Wednesday the 31 May. Each team consists of eight who participate across ten disciplines including engineering, mathematics, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography and legacy. The students who participated this week were highly engaged and despite not winning, gained enormously from the experience. We wish students who are participating next week all the best and look forward to hearing back about the day.
Our Resource Centre caters for all of our college community and provides students with opportunities to borrow books, participate in lunchtime activities and the option to borrow devices for use in the classroom. I would like to thank our Junior School students who do borrow the devices, use them responsibly and return them at the end of the day. Our college device program supports all learners and as such we all need to be respectful of the borrowing rules; Devices are to be returned to the Resource Centre by the end of each day.
The cold weather has really set in and the mornings are quite frosty. A reminder that all students are to be wearing their winter uniform. during Term 2. A list of the winter uniform requirements can be found in the student planner. Please note that only plain full finger black gloves and black scarves are permitted to be worn. Shor
