Interschool Sport

Intermediate Badminton

On Friday 19 May Scoresby Secondary College, sent three teams to compete against our neighbouring secondary schools, at Upwey High School. Our participants were all Year 9 students who competed against teams  consisting of both Year 9 and Year 10 students.

Most games were competitive, and our students were thrilled when they won a game (4 games each match played in pairs) Boys A team won a match against Boronia K-12 College B team, plus one game against Boronia K-12 C team. Our boys B team won a match against Bayswater Secondary College, on points count back, plus won a game against Upwey High School A team and Wantirna Secondary College B team! Our girls team won a match against Boronia Secondary College and also won a game against Bayswater Secondary College.

I was very impressed with the cooperation of our students who had to assist with scoring each game plus the sportsmanship displayed during games when they were outclassed by teams who had obviously practiced and played badminton more frequently!

Well done to our three teams!

Senior Girls Netball

On Monday, some of Scoresby’s Year 11 and Year 12 girls went to Knox Regional Netball Centre to participate in netball. They played 7 games against Rowville, Wantirna, Boronia and Fairhills.

Although the girls didn’t win any games, they had a good time trying their hardest! Our top scorers were Loren Watson, Iasinta Aiolupotea and Susitina Von Heiderbrandt who scored against Boronia, Wantirna and Fairhills. The girls demonstrated great resilience when they were not winning the games and enjoyed the time playing.

Everyone stepped on the court and played amazing games, getting intercepts, and showing an understanding of the skills needed in netball.

During all the games, the girls cheered each other on demonstrating good Scoresby spirit and support for one another.

We are extremely proud of the effort our Scoresby girls put in and how they represented Scoresby! Well done, Iasinta, Krista, Kaidance, Imogen, Isabel, Lori, Natasha Susitina, Loren and Beth!

Senior Boys Netball

On Tuesday, 16 May, our Year 10 and Year 11 boys went out to boys' senior netball. Everyone did an amazing job, and all put in their part. Ms Marsal coached the Year 10 boys who ended up winning one game, while I coached the Year 11 boys, unfortunately, they didn’t win any games, but everyone still had a good time. The senior boys competed against schools such as Fairhills, Boronia, Wantirna, Upwey and Rowville.

It was good to see people who didn’t even know how to play the sport still jump in and have a go.

Intermediate Boys Netball

On Tuesday 16 May, some of Scoresby’s Year 10 & 11 boys went to Knox Regional Netball courts to participate in netball. The year 10 boys played games against Rowville, Wantirna, Fairhills and Boronia.

All the Year 10 students gave their all and tried out all the different positions. It was awesome to watch the team morale and how the students developed through the day, hyping each other up, and providing support and feedback to each other when needed.

Intermediate Soccer

Our Year 9 & 10 boys soccer team played three interschool games on Friday 16 may. We won the first game against Wantirna (3-0) and lost to both East and West Rowville. Considering the size of their schools and the fact that we had no substitutes, Scoresby Secondary College are incredibly proud of our team's effort and progress.

Even though not all results may have entirely favoured our team, it is essential to remember that soccer is not just about winning or losing. It's about the lessons learned, the friendships forged, and the growth that comes from facing challenges.

Intermediate Girls Netball

Friday 16 May was when our Year 9 &10 girls went out to represent their school for interschool netball. Everyone was amazing on the court and showed great teamwork skills.

Although we may not have won every single game, everyone still had a great time, had lots of fun, and had lots of smiles. It was a great bonding and learning experience and at the end of the day even, though there were some minor injuries, it was a fun day out and an experience worth being a part of.
