Celebrating Children's Day in Japanese Club
The Japanese club at our school recently held a fun and engaging crafts activity for Children's Day. The activity, which took place last Friday 5 May, was attended by students who were interested in learning more about Japanese culture.
During the activity, students had the opportunity to create a wreath with carp streamers, which are traditionally used to celebrate Children's Day in Japan. The activity was a great success, with students enthusiastically engaged in the crafting process and producing lovely creations!
Every fortnight (Friday Week B), the Japanese Club plans to hold more such events in the future, providing students with a fun and educational way to explore new cultures and artistic traditions.
We look forward to seeing more events like this in the future and encourage all students to get involved in the Japanese Club!
Year 10 Amazing Race Excursion
On Wednesday 10 May, the Year 10 Japanese students went on an educational excursion to Melbourne CBD, providing them with an opportunity to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and explore the presence of Japan in the CBD.
The excursion began with a visit to the Consulate-General of Japan in Melbourne, where students attended a seminar on Travel to Japan. They learned about the different prefectures in Japan, popular destinations for Australian travellers, and the importance of studying Japanese beyond high school.
Afterwards, the group visited Cashmere Cat Cafe, where they had the chance to interact with cute and cuddly cats.
The highlight of the excursion was exploring Melbourne Central, QV and Emporium while following directions in Japanese. Students had the opportunity to visit various shops selling Japanese products and souvenirs.
Overall, the excursion was a great success, providing students with a unique and valuable experience to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture and society. It was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 10 students to explore the rich and fascinating culture of Japan in a fun and engaging way. We look forward to more exciting excursions like this in the future.
