Catholic Identity
Mercy Prayer
We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.
It is through their vision, determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.
We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

News reminder!
“Along the Track” article: “Blessed.”
In today’s newsletter, you will find another article written by Jim Quillinan entitled, “Blessed.” These articles are included in our newsletter each fortnight to hopefully open up the Scripture for you and to help you “see” the message of Jesus in a modern light.
This week’s article is specifically relevant for our St. Mary’s staff, as we follow the theme of the “Beatitudes” during 2023.
We truly recognise the “blessed” role we have in the development of each child in our care here at school.
“The Beatitudes are signs of God’s grace at work. They can change us and they invite us to change what is happening around us.
The Beatitudes tell us about God’s grace, firstly that it is a gift, not something that is deserved or a reward, something to be ‘amassed’ as it were. But we have to be open to it and the challenges it contains, ready to accept the growth if offers.
So, blessed are those who realise their need for support, their own limitations and weaknesses, those who recognise their dependence on God, their need of God’s grace. Through that lens, they can come to see the goodness in others, the gifts others bring.”
.” Jim Quillinan, May, 2023.
News reminder!
Our next whole school Mass will be celebrated on Friday, 16th June. We will celebrate the Mass of Compassion (Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) on this day. The Mass of Compassion is a significant celebration, where we put our social justice values into action and bring food items for those in need in our local community.
This year, the theme for our Mass of Compassion will be “Bring a can, because you can!”
Families will be asked to donate canned food items, such as tuna, salmon, vegetables, spaghetti, fruit and desserts (such as creamed rice) in the coming weeks. Donations of warm winter clothing, socks and blankets would also be appreciated.
The Grade Six Social Justice Team will co-ordinate this act of solidarity and assist in the donations being delivered to the St. Vincent de Paul Society here in Mooroopna.
Important dates:
Wednesday, 14th June - Festival of the Sacred - Kyabram - Concert at 1pm.
Friday, 16th June - Whole school Mass of Compassion at 9.45am in the Marian Centre.
Tuesday, 18th July - Parent Information Night for the Sacrament of First Eucharist in the Marian Centre at 7.00pm.
