From the Principal

Dear parents and carers

This term has flown by with many wonderful learning experiences and activities undertaken right across the school. The fun continues this week with excursions to OHS In-Concert, Robertson Park Time Capsule unearthing and a musical ride recording at Riding for the Disabled. Campus students are having fun at Ninja Gym and our barista team will enjoy someone else making them a drink at Cafe Connect. Community connections and engagement in activities promotes collaboration between students, parents and the wider school community, enriching teaching and learning.

The end of term brings new adventures for two of our staff as we bid them a fond farewell. Sarah Trembath has been teaching at Anson Street for 2 and a half years and has experienced every class from kindergarten to year 12. We wish her the best of luck as she moves into a new phase of her career.

We also farewell a long-time casual and exceptionally creative potter as Ray Windsor retires from teaching. Pottery is enjoyed by all students (and some staff!) and there are many pieces of glazed earthenware lining shelves and mantels all over Orange with his added personal touch. May you find many wonderful activities to do together Ray and Georgie. Best wishes!

Recently I communicated with you about the tragic house fire that affected one of our school families. I am now able to let you know that both of the boys have returned to school and are continuing to delight in seeing their peers and staff as they participate in their learning experiences. Winter is a timely reminder to check that your smoke alarms are functioning correctly and the local Fire Station can do a fire safety visit at your home to check and replace your smoke alarms if necessary and inspect any old cords, leads or appliances that may be a fire hazard. Phone 6339 8512 for assistance.

As we head off for a break it is important to be alert and safe in all environments. Students practise road and vehicle safety when going on outings and are aware of following instructions to remain safe. Students learn by seeing and doing so always be a good role model for them and help to build their safety skills.

Have a wonderful break! Stay warm and healthy and we will welcome students back on Tuesday 18 July.
