National Simultaneous Storytime

National Simultaneous Storytime occurred last Wednesday, 24 May. This is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously by students nationwide. This year's book is called 'The Speedy Sloth'.

Last week, the primary students at Mount Carmel College participated in this. We gathered together with our buddy classes to do a shared reading of the book. We reflected on the message of the 'The Speedy Sloth' and completed some fun activities together.

The Year 1 and Year 5 classes spent some time in the Senior Art Room working on collaborative collages of 'Sid the Sloth.' We teamed up with our buddies to scrunch tissue paper, get creative with crayons and get gluey! The Year 5 students were very collaborative and supportive, and the Year 1 students shared great ideas and even a few jokes. Our buddies sessions are always special times.
