Principals' Update
Earn and Learn
In Year 5/6, every two years, the students learn about the economics of running a small business. Over the term, they cover the following focus questions:
- What makes a business successful?
- What business choices need to be made when allocating resources?
- What factors influence consumer and financial choices?
In small groups, the students set up their own small business and sell products at three market days held at school. These products are made by the students. Each group is expected to turn a profit over the three market days. At the end of the Earn & Learn unit, profits will be donated to a charity of the students' choice.
Yesterday our Year 5/6 Students had their first marketplace with Earn and Learn. There were some fantastic products on sale and we can’t wait for the whole school Market Place next Tuesday, 6 June and then the after school Community Market Place (open to CNPS family and friends) on Wednesday, 14 June.
"Come to Sour City for delicious sherbet at our whole school Earn and Learn event on Tuesday 6th June.
Grape and Strawberry sherbet - $1.50
Lollypop – 50c extra"
Division Cross Country
Congratulations to our four students, Amelie D, Claude Mc, Suhayb A and Seb T R, who competed in yesterday's Division Cross Country. Amelie and Claude will be heading off to Regional to represent our school! Well done everyone!
Semester 1 Student Reports
Our teachers are currently writing Semester 1 Student Reports in readiness for publication on Compass in Week 9. Last year the Policy and Education Subcommittee discussed feedback from our parents and carers for there to be a personal wellbeing comment for each student within the Student Reports. This has been discussed with CNPS Staff and these comments will be included in the Semester 2 Student Reports. The School Improvement Team determined that given that Term 2 is only a 9 week term, introducing a new element to the Student Reports for Semester 1 would be too challenging in the short timeline.

Online Safety & Digital Wellbeing Webinar for Parents and Carers
Thank you to the families that attended the 90 minute session on Online Safety and Digital Wellbeing last Tuesday evening. The Webinar was well attended, although we do encourage more families to attend these sessions when offered by the school. The wellbeing and safety of our students online is so extremely important. As parents, it is important that we have an understanding of the games and conversations that our children are participating in when online.

Winter Musical Soiree Tomorrow Afternoon
Our Winter Musical Soiree is tomorrow afternoon after school. This event is a fantastic opportunity for our Instrumental Music Students to perform in front of an audience. We appreciate all of the hard work and practise that our students and their Instrumental Music teachers put in for this event.
Staff Professional Learning
On Tuesday, Billy and Jane attended the Respectful Relationships Showcase Day for North East Melbourne Area (NEMA). This day provided an understanding of the support services available to schools in the case of a student's disclosure to family violence.
Today, Maddi attended the Yarra Darebin Learning Specialist Network Professional Learning Session. This event is a great opportunity for Learning Specialists working at Yarra and Darebin schools to network with each other and develop Communities of Practice.
