2021 School Immunisation Program

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the return to school based learning for students in Year 7 and 10, the Yarra Ranges Council immunisation service will be completing the secondary school immunisation program at community based venues.

This decision has been made to support schools and students and to allow the focus to remain on a successful completion of the current year.

The Year 7 students are now becoming due for dose 2 of the Human papillomavirus vaccine and some of the Year 8 students have not completed the 2020 program.

Students in Year 10 in 2020 or 2021 who missed the meningococcal ACWY vaccination are also offered the opportunity to 'catch up' at one of these sessions.

COVID19 vaccine is NOT available at our sessions and should not be given within 7 days of any other vaccine.

The sessions will be held at the four large venues currently being used by our service which enables social distancing requirements to be observed.

These venues are listed below.  Please click the venue required to make your appointment.

Additional session times will be added in the coming days.

Appointments are mandatory for these sessions.  We request that parents do not enter the venue unless additional support is required for their child.

Once your booking has been made, our records will be checked to confirm that valid consent for your child was received at the beginning of the year.  If consent has not been received, an electronic form will be sent to you and we ask that this be completed as quickly as possible.

If the secondary school specific session time do not suit you can book in to any free community immunisation session via our website, through your GP clinic, some pharmacies or your own immunisation provider if you reside outside of the Yarra Ranges Shire area.

If you require any further information please contact the immunisation service on 1300 368 333.

Half yearly and Yearly myki Users

For families who have purchased a half yearly or yearly myki cards, we have received the following information from PTV regarding unused MYKI travel;

The Department of Transport can reimburse the dollar value of the unused days to a nominated bank account.  Parents of students can apply for the refunds individually as they are required to provide a bank account BSB and account number where the value of the unused days will be deposited.

This reimbursement can be obtained by calling the PTV Contact Centre on 1800 800 007 where Customer Service staff will assist.

Remote learning periods this term were:

  • 16 July to 28 July
  • 5 August to date

We have not received advice as to whether a second reimbursement will be available, if the remote learning period continues.

Medical Action Plans

As per Department Policy, each student with a medical condition must have an action plan at school.

It is essential that we know how to support your child's health, and can manage their condition in the case of an emergency.

If your son/daughter has a medical condition, please ensure that the school has a current (dated within 1 year) action plan at school.

Please ensure your doctor SIGNS AND STAMPS the plan, and return it to school at the School Office or via email as soon as possible.

If you are unsure if you need an action plan or if your plan has expired, please ring the school on (03) 9735 5644.

If your son/daughter no longer suffers from a medical condition, we still require a SIGNED AND STAMPED letter from the doctor confirming this, and clearly stating they do not have the condition, to remove their condition from our records.
