Sports News

Welcome to Term 4. We very much hope that many community summer sporting seasons will begin later this term and potentially some interschool sporting opportunities. Some outdoor sports will begin training very soon and those Heads of Sport or coaches will be in touch with their athletes. For basketball and netball we need to wait until restrictions change for trainings and competitions to begin.

Next week, at our assembly we will present the remaining school sports awards before the Year 12’s depart. Some students will receive their awards on stage at the assembly and other’s will receive them at their mentor meeting as they watch the assembly. This is due to the restrictions. I have attached in this newsletter some information about our Co-Curricular Awards system that was changed in late 2018.

Basketball News

Below is the link for all College basketball players to register for the upcoming  Spring/Summer competition.  You can also register via the HBA website.  Ideally you need to be registered ASAP and by  21 October at the latest.

College Junior basketball teams for Under 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 and under divisions have been approved by the HBA for the season and already have been emailed to players, parents and coaches/team managers. Senior teams will be approved and sent out this week also. They will also be up on the sports centre noticeboard when school resumes.

Players playing seniors and juniors will also need to register twice for both teams but there should be a discount for you so contact the HBA regarding this if it concerns you.

Coaches and team managers need to register as well, if either of these are associated with 2 or more teams you will need to register for each team not just the once.

The season is likely to start in early November hopefully but this is still to be determined by the HBA depending on government mandated restrictions. Unfortunately training can also not resume at this point. Please stay tuned for more information for both of these developments as they occur.
