Principal's Message

Our children are our future...

Principal's Message

We are nearly there! I have included a simple table below which I hope makes sense to parents for each grade level. Note that the days listed in the table mean that children are on-site and no remote instruction will occur. On days not listed, remote learning remains the mode of instruction.

Because we are straddling two services - remote and on-site (with yard and other duties coming into play), some of the full remote service may be scaled down a little as we negotiate the next three weeks. By way of example, the specialist team will be teaching on site and remotely (whilst often doing yard duties) so that service for remote will decrease.

Please read all of the information in this newsletter and check Compass for the Newsfeed containing the PowerPoint we presented live online which outlines arrival times and locations along with end-of-day processes which will be important for student, staff and community safety.

Best Wishes Miss Susie

This week we will be saying goodbye for a while to Miss Susie in 1A. Susie will be commencing Maternity Leave on Thursday 21st October. Since joining our staff in 2019, she has been an incredibly positive team mate and teacher. Susie shows care for each and every one of her students. She is an outstanding teacher. We know that Susie will miss the students in 1A very much while away being a Mum for the first time. We wish her the best of luck with this new adventure.

Welcome Miss Bec to 1A

Miss Bec will be teaching 1A for the remainder of the school year. Below is a blurb from Miss Bec so that you can learn a little more about her:

Hi, my name is Miss Bec and I am so excited to be working in Grade 1 at SMPS. I am originally from New South Wales, and I lived in London before moving to Melbourne. I really like to travel and see new places, and I was lucky enough to visit lots of different countries when I lived overseas. I love living in Melbourne and like to spend my free time being outside, having picnics in the park or going running. I also have lots of plants at my house which I love to look after, including a veggie garden. I love to learn new things, and to nurture a love of learning in the students I teach. I can’t wait to get to know all of the wonderful people in Grade 1 and have lots of fun this term.

Diwali

We have a significant portion of our school community who celebrate Diwali, which is occurring soon. We are a proudly multicultural school and, where possible, like to recognise some of the major dates to celebrate and recognise our broad spectrum of citizens.

This is a call out to any families who may celebrate Diwali. We are seeking a 30 second video of your celebration. Check out the PDF below for the process of lodging your video.
