Science Week Activities

A couple of weeks ago was Science Week and the theme for this year was 'Food- by design'.
The theme recognises the changes we must make in order to feed the world's population in a sustainable manner.
Currently, around a third of all greenhouse emissions come from agriculture and a great portion of this relates to large animal production.
If we are to reduce emissions there will need to be changes in diets across the world. To introduce the idea to students we had an alternative food tasting fair with crickets and worms on the menu.
Seawood and hemp were also offered as student diners stuck up their noses or braved the challenge and savored the protein-rich offerings.
We can't wait to hear what the theme for next year will be.
Thanks to the science crew for supporting Science Week, especially Min and Sharon and the helpful students.
