Canteen News

A message from Guyra Central School P&C:

An amazing opportunity for our School Community and Canteen is on the horizon. After many years of a P&C run canteen the time has come to consider transferring the management of this amazing service to the school from the beginning of 2022.

This opportunity will enable a strong and sustainable canteen for our school community long into the future.

The transfer of management allows for the P and C to focus its energy on promoting the interests of the school, facilitate its development, assist with further improvements and raise funds to support the best possible outcomes for our students and school.

Excitingly this will also allow our hospitality students to work alongside the canteen employees to meet competencies and gain valuable work experience. The current employees will have an opportunity to join the Department of Education workforce in their current roles.

There will be no change in the daily operation of the canteen which will continue to adhere to the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy.

Finally the sale of the P and C assets will go directly to the P and C which can be utilised to help our students and school.

This is a notification of the extraordinary P and C meeting which will take place on Tuesday 9th November, 5.30pm at GSC Staff Room. We invite the entire school community to attend this meeting to hear about this proposal, ask questions and be part of an open discussion.

Please note that a vote will take place at this meeting and only financial members of the P and C can participate. The  motion being put forward is for Guyra Central School to purchase and manage the Canteen from the Guyra Central School P and C.

We look forward to seeing you all at this extraordinary meeting.
