Welcome to Term 4! 

While some of the return to school has a familiar feel - we're still learning remotely, there is much to look forward to. We hope that you had a pleasant and relaxing break and that you are refreshed and feel renewed for another term of learning.

 We cannot believe that it is the final term of the year, it seems as though the year has gone by very quickly. We have spent a lot of time completing our learning from home, but you have all worked so hard and we continue to be so proud of you. Keep up the good work and we can't wait until we have you all back on site in the classroom. 

Maths

This week we've begun a new Number unit focussing on Fractions. We began by investigating what fractions are, how to identify them, and how to name them. We then went and found Fractions in Our World, first looking for factions of a whole and then fractions of a group. Here are some examples from the students.

Change

This term our topic that is going to be covered across Literacy, Education in Faith and Inquiry is CHANGE. 

We are going to be exploring change through chemical science. We have some fun and engaging activities planned for the coming weeks. We will also be looking at the different types of prayer. This week we have begun looking at meditation as a type of prayer.  

Students were given a range of questions that they had to answer. One of these questions asked them to describe what meditation feels like. Here are some responses:

Willow - Calm, Peaceful and Happy

Chris - Like a soft cloud

Zairah - It feels like your somewhere else

Eric - Present 

In today's lesson we explored prayer through art. After looking at many images of Mary and Jesus, students were asked to draw or paint one of these people. They had to think about how they were going to portray their chosen person and choose appropriate colours/shading to support this. Art is another way that students can communicate and connect with God.
