Term 3 Newsletter

River room

Hi River families and welcome to our Term 3 Newsletter. As I reflect on the past term and the wonderful moments and memories we have all share i can't help but be in such a disbelief at how quickly this year is going and that this will be my last Newsletter leading the wonderful room that is River. I am extremely proud of all of our bright, loving and intuitive children! It never

ceases to amaze us how adaptable and resilient they all are as the watch and observe us figure out the new world we are in. They have made some incredible relationships with each other and their Educators which has been beautiful to see over the past year which I will always cherish. As we go into Term 4 the room will be lead by Grace which will allow for continuity of care, program and wonderful end of the year to come! :) Please enjoy reading what we have been up to.

Pram Program

We have had such a wonderful time bringing the prams back into our program. Getting out exploring the world around us hasn't been easy over the last 2 years so we have been really appreciate of the resources. The children have been able to extend on their gross motor skills through running after Cate- she's keen on the oval- she's keen! ;) throwing fresh grass around, looking at all the fresh produced at the local supermarket, looking for and seeing different wildlife animals, cars, people and of course.. stopping to smell the flowers! We can't wait to continue this into the rest of year, especially as the weather become warmer and clearer. At the moment our 2 prams only cater to 12 children, we are looking into another pram to allow for 16 so look out for more trips in the future :)

Bonkers the monkey and group times

Bonkers the monkey has been joining us sporadically throughout term 3. He is a monkey that sleeps in his special bag and only comes out during times! We usually have to wake him up and call out to him to come out play singing "Where is bonkers, where is bonkers, where is he?"  Bonkers then eventually comes out to join us tail first to sing our group time songs. A few of the songs we sing during group times usually consist of multicultural songs:

-The acknowledgement to country song by Hullabuloo Music

-Inanay by Tiddas with our clapping sticks

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=inanay+capuana

-Tuba Nuba by the wiggles

-Dulce Dulce (meaning "Sweet, Sweet" by Ella Jenkins.

These are just a few of our special songs we love and have experienced bring so much joy to the children each day! We are incredibly proud of how well they move their bodies to their rhythms and use their fine motor skills tapping their clapping sticks away. Crowd favourites are and I think always will be include:

-wheels on the bus

-what’s in the box

-old McDonald

-where is the green sheep

Baby chicks at Haven

We were very lucky to have the opportunity to be apart of field rooms Henny Penny Hatchling program for 2 weeks. It was amazing to introduce the program into the River room for the children to experience. We aimed to bring the chicks in most mornings for the children to spend time holding and watching as they moved around the room

Science week

For national science week we explored different experiments that were simple but very effective and were enjoyed by all the children. We created goop with corn flour and water experiencing the goop go from soft to hard in their hands.

-  "fireworks" using oil, water and food colouring to see the colours spark and float around the ingredients experiencing cause and effect.

It was so much fun!

Footy Day

We had the best time and such a fun day!

To celebrate grand final day we had a footy day here at Haven to celebrate our favourite teams. As a service we headed next door to our local park to spend the morning running, jumping, kicking footballs and make memories to cherish together.

Go Dee's!!

What's happening in term 4...

-As the end of the 2021 year is near we will be focusing on Sun room readiness and supporting the children moving up to sun for 2022.

-We will continue to work on self help skills and allow for opportunity for children to have a further sense of autonomy (Independence and resilience.) We feel this is very important as the move forward into a new room and create new, trusting and secure relationships with their future Educators.

-SunSmart.. As we head into term 4 we want to remind you that our SunSmart policy will be in effect. We ask that if you wish to bring your own sunscreen that let us know and bring some in :) we also ask that we move into warmer weather we still need to have appropriate clothing for the children (such as clothing that covers their shoulder) and changes of clothes as we dive back into water play! Hats will also need to be worn outside as well. Majority of the children already have Haven hats that are labelled that will stay within the room.
