Calrossy 7 - 9 Leadership

One of the critical pillars of our Secondary model for Calrossy 7-9 is the concept of leadership. By encouraging leadership within our Year 9 students, we believe that this helps them to mature with greater responsibility. This idea has been tried and tested for centuries across many different cultures. It often takes place in the form of coming-of-age ceremonies.

In our case, Year 9 becoming the leaders of Calrossy 7-9 helps them lead by example and assume responsibility for their peers. It is hoped that in doing this, our students develop accountability for themselves. Former all black Andrew Mehrtens says responsibility is “not expecting somebody else to do your job for you… If you have personal discipline in your life. Then you are going to be more disciplined on the field” (Kerr, J (2013). Legacy: What the All Blacks can teach us about the business of life. p.7). Therefore, we continue to encourage our students, particularly in Year 9, to consider this and take on the responsibility.

I am thankful for our Year 9 leaders of 2021 and the excellent job in difficult circumstances.  Moreover, I look forward to seeing how our newly elected leaders for 2022 will continue to grow and build a positive culture in the future. I am pleased to announce the Calrossy 7-9 School Leaders for 2022.

It has been great to have all year groups back on campus during this last week. The buzz of positive voices has been a joy to behold.

Year 12 will complete their formal schooling with us this Friday, October 22 but are welcome to visit the campus in the lead up to their HSC Examinations. Students are reminded to use the QR code to check in on their arrival during these times. We will look forward to celebrating with these students and their families at the Valedictory Dinner after the completion of their examinations.

Year 11 are making the transition to Year 12 courses and are showing a pleasing focus as they settle into the next stage of their HSC journey. Congratulations to all of the students who put themselves forward for selection for leadership positions for 2022.
