From the Classroom

Grade 1

Welcome back everyone!!

It has been such a pleasure to have all 17 Grade Ones back this week. I have been quite impressed in the way they have managed this transition back into the classroom.

This week we are welcoming Miss Crowe who will be joining us on Friday for 4 weeks as part of her university placement.

New this term we have a money reward system where students created their own Origami Money Box and receive money rewards during the school day. Students are encouraged to save their money and spend it at the Grade One Shop on something special just for themselves.

Grade 2

We are very excited to be back in the classroom this week! The students have enjoyed participating in our literacy group rotations. Here are a few images from our Tuesday morning rotations.

Grade 4

It was great to be back at school even if only for 2 days!

On Monday, during remote learning we read an article on Woolly Mammoths. We learned that Woolly Mammoths and African Elephants share 99.6% of the same DNA. We explored this similarity over our two days in the classroom by creating a venn diagram to visually place their similarities and differences. Students also had fun using collage techniques to create our own Woolly Mammoths. We will continue our learning about these animals over the next 2 days of remote learning!

In Maths, we have focussed on counting and ordering fractions. Today we made our own fraction pieces to use in remote learning tomorrow to help us compare sizes of fractions and order them.
