Year 7 concluded their unit on Instruments of the Orchestra on Monday, 9th November with the Year 7 Orchestra Experience. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, this semester’s event was held in the Mt Erin gardens outside the Heritage Centre. Students certainly enjoyed making some great music outside!

This Year 7 Orchestra Experience, which is held each semester, provides our year 7 students with an opportunity to play an instrument in an orchestra of over 65 musicians. Our Year 7 music classes joined with students from the KCC Wind Ensemble and KCC Chamber Ensemble to rehearse and workshop songs that they have been learning in class including Seven Nation Army, Smoke on the Water and Thinking Out Loud. Year 7 received small group tuition from the more experienced musicians and some even had the opportunity to conduct the ensemble.

Well done to our year 7 music classes for their enthusiasm and behaviour and thank you to our Wind Ensemble and Chamber Ensemble students for being such wonderful tutors to year 7. If any student is interested in learning an instrument, they are encouraged to speak with one of the music teachers at the college. We can arrange tuition on most common instruments including guitar, piano, woodwind, brass, strings, drums and singing.
