RE classrooms?

Year 7 RE Acknowledgement of Country

Last week, Year 7 RE students started their final topic for the term - Religions in the World.

In this unit students examine the nature and role of Catholic Christianity. Students also explore the beliefs and religious expressions of other major religious traditions, including Aboriginal Spirituality, Islam and Buddhism. Learning about multi-faith Australia allows students to gain mutual understanding and respect through dialogue and cooperation.

During Weeks 6 & 7 Jason Jolley, one of our Aboriginal Education and Community Workers, will visit classes to share his knowledge of Aboriginal spirituality with students focussing on Aboriginal Creation Stories. In class, students will learn about the elements of Aboriginal Creation Stories, and the events of the Dreaming. Specific focus will be on the local story of Wawi, the Rainbow Serpent, and the local Wiradjuri connection to the waterways of Wagga Wagga.

This is a great follow on from recent NAIDOC week activities and our prayer focus in Homegroup.
