Facey Property Awards 

Every year, a local real estate agent Facey Property offers awards for Y12 Commerce students in the greater Dandenong area. This award is based on nominations, from both teachers and students.

The criteria for the award recipients is based on level of effort, and not necessarily the student who obtains the highest marks. Students who portray the following characteristics are generally nominated:

• Hard work ethic
• Facing and overcoming obstacles
• Assisting others in their learning
• Doing well beyond the average expectation of effort

All students studying a commerce-related Y12VCE subject (Bus Man, Economics, Accounting & Legal) are eligible, and we are pleased to report the following students have received nominations in 2020:

• Akech Nyoul
• Hai Vu
• Hriday Nayyar
• Linh Nguyen
• Marious De Silva
• Rim Simon
• Shenal Amarasekara

We are proud to report that a student from St John’s has been awarded one of these prizes every year since the inauguration of this award, including alumni Beatrice Oryem (2016), Rivaldo Lay (2017), Adnan Shaikh (2018), and Jasmine Guilford (2019).

The prize on offer is a $1,500 cash sponsorship, in order to assist this winning student(s) in their next level of education. This can assist with the expensive transition to university, or even relocating if their chosen course is not near home. It is a huge opportunity, and something that can provide that extra small boost as they enter the final months of their secondary education.
