Faith and Mission 

Mr Hogan and I met with Youth Minister Jan Holewa and the Youth Band break up celebration at lunchtime on Thursday.  We have been very impressed by the development of the band over this difficult year and look forward to the band’s iteration in 2021 under Jan’s dedicated and skillful leadership.  Jan reports the following on the band this year:

The Youth Band has completed an awesome year. Though we could not perform live at assemblies, masses and other necessary events, the team represented part of the school’s musical talent impeccably. Together, the team overcame many adversities, like preparing for performances without other members to practice and using technology to collaborate ideas instead of doing so easily in person.

I was proud seeing the Youth Band perform at events like College Virtual Assemblies, the Assumption of Mary reflection day, and the internal band presentation of Power of Your Love. These events have helped the students grow in self-confidence, given them a sense of connection and improved their musical performance skills.

It is sad to see the Year 12s leave the band, but I also look forward to the new talent that will replace them next year!
