BNWPS appreciation week October 26th - 30th

Often the night seems so dark until we stop for a moment, take a deep breath, and

adjust to our new environment. Then we can focus on all the small, but shining stars lighting up our sky.

During the last week of October, School Council and CET encourage all BNWPS families and staff to enjoy three little appreciation activities.

2020 has been a difficult year and there may be more challenges to come. These activities are designed to show and build upon the resourcefulness & resilience of our children, their BNWPS teachers & staff, ourselves, and our families now & into the future. Hopefully, they will help us to reconnect as a community, bring joy and ease the transition back to school.

1.    A collection of ribbons to show appreciation

Each family and staff member will receive a pack of pink ribbons, the colour of appreciation, via the eldest child at school. If you wish to, write your names and a message of appreciation on your ribbons. From Saturday 24th October, and over the week, tie your ribbons to the front fence at school starting at the entrance and moving out. Creating a beautiful artwork that is a representation of our appreciation of ourselves and others. A limited number of spare ribbons can be collected by your child from the office.

2. Stars to show gratitude and thank someone special

Each family and staff member will receive a paper star template and digital template (via Sentral and coloured and greyscale). Fill in or create new paper stars with the names and experiences you are grateful for. During the week commencing Monday 26th of October, children and staff can drop the stars into the pink star box in the main corridor at school. Across the week helpers will hang them to create a wall of stars. Create as many as you like wish messages of thanks!

3.    A little homemade gift to say thank you

Friday 30th of October is Australia’s celebration of World Teachers Day.

Remote learning has been really challenging for the BNWPS teachers and staff. To recognise and thank them for their enormous efforts we invite students and their parents/carers to bring in a token of their gratitude, like a little bunch of flowers from the garden, or a card or picture to give to the staff on this day. Alongside these gifts, the School Council has organised a sweet treat for every member of staff on this day and a lunch on the student free day, Friday 11th December.
