school council

dear families

How has your past week been? Personally, I’ve been so heartened to see my two kids thoroughly enjoying being back at school, catching up with friends, reconnecting with teachers and loving being face-to-face for curriculum. Dare I speak on their behalf to say they would rather be at school than having a public holiday this Friday. I hope your experiences are similar and you are seeing just how resilient our children are.

You may have seen some communication from the amazing CET team about Appreciation Week at BNW. Please check it out and if you’ve got some energy, take a moment with your family to stop and reflect on some of things we can be appreciative for. CET have done so much work over the past weeks to provide everyone at school with some small tokens you can use to show your appreciation to anyone in your family, your community or the school. Let’s see if we can band together and put a smile on the faces of our wider community.

How are you going with Sentral? Now that we’ve cut over to using Sentral almost exclusively communication should feel a little more streamlined and Sentral can provide a uniform hub for you to access and find information. There is more work for the school to do to make the most of the app, but also the app has so much more functionality than it did earlier this year. Remember if you are experiencing any problems downloading the app, logging in, etc please reach out the school and they would be more than happy to help you.

There are many people at school who are busy right now preparing for a big School Council planning meeting on Thursday 12 November. We are looking forward to seeing planning for 2021 from all Sub Committees and many others in the school on that night. It’s exciting to see such creative thinking taking shape which will help inform what our wonderful school will look like and will be doing over 2021. If there has ever been a time to get involved in a Sub Committee or consider joining School Council, now is a great time. Reach out to someone you know on the Committee, speak to a Councillor or drop me a line. Your contribution will be meaningful, and I can assure you, you and your family will get a lot out of the experience.

Please take care, be gentle on yourselves and those around you.
