Primary News

From the Head of Primary

As the end of the school year is upon us, there are a whirl of activities going on. Reports are being finalised, files are being sorted, table tubs are to be emptied, and students have been allocated to their new classes and have met their 2021 teachers and classmates. This year, the end of year activities are a bit different to usual. There will be no class parties as such because of the COVID restrictions. Students will be given individual bags of popcorn and icy poles to enjoy together instead.

The Years 3/4 students are going on an excursion to ‘The Big Goose’ on Thursday 3 December. The Years 5/6 students will be involved in two activity days: Friday 4 and Monday 7 December.

The Year 6 Graduation will be held from 11am on Tuesday 8 December, and live streamed to families. The link will also be available from the website to view later on if families are unable to watch it in real time.

As previously communicated, students will be presented with Achievement Certificates in their class groups on Wednesday 9 December. A short ‘Primary Celebration’ video will be sent to families as well, which has been produced by the Primary Student Leaders.

Canteen: The final day for lunch orders will be this Friday 4 December, and the canteen will be closed next week.

The final day of term for Primary students is Thursday 10 December. They will be dismissed at 2:30pm.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank parents/carers for their continued support throughout 2020. May you have a really blessed Christmas and a relaxing holiday.

Loving Father,
Help us remember the birth of Jesus,
That we may share in the song of the angels,
The gladness of the shepherds,
And the worship of the wisemen.

(Robert Louis Stevenson)

God bless,

Moonlit Sanctuary

The Prep students went to the Moonlit Sanctuary on their first excursion for the year. They got to meet many native Australian animals. They were up close and personal with kangaroos and wallabies, met the Tassie Devil and dingoes, and saw many beautiful Australian birds. The reptiles were definitely a favourite. Thank you to the wonderful parent volunteers who came along to help.

Makerspace News

I have had the pleasure of Year 3/4T visiting the Makerspace twice in the last fortnight. Last week students completed rotations of logic games, coding 'Dash' the robot and building with planks. This week's topic was chain reactions through building a variety of domino runs. Students were greatly challenged and showed great persistence while creating their solutions.

3/4 Integrated Studies

As part of the Integrated Studies unit, 'Innovation Creation', the Year 3/4 students have been busy designing and creating models. They were asked to create a design that would help someone else in a particular way.

Students came up with many ideas, showing kindness and persistence throughout the process. The students then presented their models to the Prep-Year 2 students, and explained the purpose and usefulness of their models. Well done Years 3/4s!!
