MTC Enrichment Program Online Program

Seven students from Years 9 and 10, including myself, recently took part in a Melbourne Theatre Company virtual enrichment program. 

The course consisted of two sessions. The first was a workshop on Dan Giovanni’s script 'Slap, Bang, Kiss' which explores themes of hope, activism and community. The play questions what it really means to ‘go viral’ and challenges the notion that young people cannot change the world. We participated in many activities surrounding the themes and questions of the script, additionally we read an excerpt of the script to gain deeper comprehension. The second session consisted of a Q & A working with the creatives behind the play and gaining an understanding of the production process first-hand. 

Throughout the course I personally learnt about how to find richer meaning in plays by studying elements related to the themes and meaning, I also further developed my acting skills.
