What's happening in the 3/4 classrooms

In middle school we’ve had a busy two weeks with Remembrance Day and NAIDOC week. Students have participated in a range of activities to celebrate and commemorate these significant times in our culture.   These activities included a reflection on why we remember our soldiers for Remembrance day. Exploring and investigating dream time and creating their own masterpieces for NAIDOC week.

In Literacy students continue to learn about poetry with the main focus being Rhyming poems the last couple of weeks. The students have been busily constructing poems using rhyming schemes with the use of onomatopoeia.

Students have begun their focus on measurement and geometry in Mathematics, using informal methods of measurement including their own hands and feet to measure various objects.

Students are continuing to explore their Inquiry topic of ‘What makes me a well being?’. The students have been focusing on nutrition and how nutrition makes us a healthy well being. Students designed nutritious lunch box menus which included a healthy snack, lunch and a piece of fruit.

In Religious Education students have begun to explore Advent as a time of waiting. The students started the unit where they were given a range of images and artefacts to provoke their thinking and completed a thinking routine to record all  their thoughts and wonderings. The students will continue to discuss and explore Advent in the lead up to Christmas.
