What's happening in the 5/6 classrooms

Once again it has been a very busy couple of weeks in the senior school! There is a lot happening at the moment and the senior students are very immersed in their learning.
In literacy we are continuing to develop different comprehension strategies with our current focus being inferring. In writing the year 6 students have been reflecting on their time here at Holy Family and recording memories of different moments to be included in their graduation books. The year 5 students are busily writing their leadership speeches which will be presented in the next couple of weeks!
Our Inquiry focus still continues to be wellbeing but the year 5s are now looking towards being the next school leaders while the year 6s are focussing on transitioning to secondary school.
In Religious Education all the seniors worked in groups of four to create their own prayer services, with a focus around Joseph, Mary or the Holy Family. It was great to see how they incorporated signs, symbols and ritual into their prayers. We are now focusing on the season of Advent and the waiting for the coming of the Messiah.
