INTERNATIONAL STUDENT NEWS

At our last Well-Being Google Meet, Lauren Pilakis, Collingwood College School Nurse, presented to Year 8-10 international students on Sexual Health. This was an educational and informative presentation on the importance of sexual health and safety. This is the second of a series of health sessions being offered to our international students.

It was wonderful to welcome our Year 7 and VCE students back to face-to-face teaching and learning Week 2.  It was obvious from the laughter and smiling faces that students felt happy to be back in the classrooms with peers.  We are equally excited to have Year 8-10 international students back with us this week.

The International Students Support Team recently met with the international cohort as a check-in and students completed a short survey about their learning experiences.

We would like to share some comments with you:

‘Class mates help me’

‘I get help with every teacher just like friends’

‘The teachers are always willing to go out of their way, spending their leisure time to help struggling students’

‘Teachers ask me frequently about how I am doing’

‘Everyone always listens and supports me’

Our VCE students are again encouraged to stay positive and remain focused on their studies and exam revision, and to maximise assistance offered by their teachers at this time.   You are all doing an amazing job!  A special thank you to our International Student School Captains, Cassandra Leong and Davidin Ath, for leading the International VCE team.

Take Care,

The International Support Team

On 28/10/2020, the international students gathered physically for the first time since returning to onsite learning. The meeting started with Felicia Peh addressing the students and welcoming them, and a speech by our Vice International Students Captain, Davidin Ath. Emily Wu from 7B represented all the International Students juniors in presenting a farewell speech to the Year 12 VCE students, while Lucy Wang presented gifts bearing our well wishes to our Year 12 international students.

We wish each and every one of them the very best in their final leg of studies, and we hope that they will achieve all their goals and dreams.

Lucy Wang also gave several reminders regarding current Covid-19 restrictions and rules that we need to adhere to. Students are all aware of all the do's and don'ts, and are willing to play the part responsibly.
