FAREWELL SRC CAPTAINS for 2020…..and what a year it has been!
It is with great sadness that we are farewelling our wonderful Captains for 2020. Hero Minogue and Hibo Khalif have had a rather challenging journey this year as the student leaders of the school. As with the challenges of Remote Learning, not being here physically and connecting with their SRC representatives has been a bit disheartening at times for them, but they have persevered and tried to connect in other ways.
Hibo and Hero have been stoic and positive about the way the year has panned out. They both started the year full of well thought out goals, new ideas and great plans for the year, but alas it was difficult to execute these well-meaning plans when you have no audience or student body to participate and enjoy their combined efforts. But nevertheless they have supported the school in other ways and generously given of their time (we all know how busy Year 12 students are) creating videos with advice on navigating through the Remote Learning and Orientation tasks for the student body, as well as attending School Council meetings.
Hero and Hibo have been long term students in our school as they have attended from Prep and Grade one right through to Year 12. They have been a part of the SRC from early Primary School and every year throughout in the Secondary school, a commendable effort and real passion for the SRC. Dedication, diligence, enthusiasm are qualities that have been present throughout their years of commitment to both the SRC and the school. I only wish that they had had more of an opportunity to put some of their ideas into their practice and enjoy the fruits of their labour. But it is what it is and rather than complain, these fine young folk have still continued to explore ways to help the school community.
I wish them both the very best with their studies. Their vivacious personalities have been a positive influence to students in our Collingwood community. Both are caring, hard- working, confident and respectful young people, a great asset to our school. We at Collingwood are proud to have watched them grow up into the wonderful young adults they are today. I know that both Hibo and Hero will make their way in the world with positivity, enthusiasm and will certainly achieve great things. They are ‘Inspirational Young People’ and make us, the teachers of Collingwood College, very proud. Good luck to both of you. We will miss your happy, smiling faces, but know that after exams, you will embark on your next exciting adventures in your journey of Life.
