St Brigid's News & Events

St Brigid's Book Fair

Monday 23 November to Thursday 26 November

We are hosting a Scholastic Book Fair, but it will look a little different this year as we will not be able to have parents and friends onsite. The student are always very excited about the fair so we didn’t want them to miss out.

Each class in the school will be invited to preview the books during a library session during which the students will be given a wish list to take home. Books will be able to be purchased online, the receipt will come back to school so that the book can be delivered to the student. Alternatively cash can be sent in with the student so that they can come to the Library to purchase a book.  If parents would like to purchase books secretly for Christmas presents please contact  Michele or Glenn so that we can arrange payment and secret collection.

The selection of books at our Book Fair will include a wide range of quality books from the best Australian and overseas authors & illustrators.

Our school benefits by receiving generous commission (up to 35%) in the form of books or cash, to add to the resources in our school.

Regards,

Michele Wain and Glenn Stewart

 Sustainability News

We have been sorting all the plastic bottle tops, that St. Brigid's families have been collecting, into their various colours.

Unfortunatley, Envision is not able to take these at the moment so we have decided to create murals. The students are designing these pictures and, when drawn, the bottle caps will be stuck onto these. When finished, these will be displayed around the school.

Thanks for your continued support in this area.

Merry Christmas Family Task

For the last 5 weeks of term your homework is a family task. Each family is asked to create their own Christmas Angel.

The term angel literally means “messenger,” and it is in this prominent role that angels take part in the Christmas story.

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.'

The artwork can be a picture, painting or a sculpture (3D angel that stands alone). The materials you choose to use can’t be purchased, you may however beg, steal (as long as you ask) or borrow the materials you need. You can use things you already have,  think of how you can recycle materials you have at home. Christmas Angels are due the week beginningMonday 23rd November. This is so that all the Angels can be displayed during the final days of term. All Angels will need to be taken home by the children during the last few days of term.

Task rules

  • One Angel per family.
  • Recycled materials to be used - materials should not be purchased. (please try)
  • The Christmas Angel can be any height/width of up to a maximum of 1 Metre. (remember you have to transport it to school)
  • 2D Angel images should be a maximum size A2 this is 420 x 594mm

Enjoy making your Angel, we can’t wait to make St Brigid’s all ready for Christmas. '
