HOOPTIME

Last Friday our Year 5 and 6 boys and girls basketball teams played in the District Hooptime Tournament at the ARC. A terrific day of basketball was played with all teams playing against the other primary schools in Warrnambool. The girls team were outstanding in all their matches, winning two games, drawing another and losing one. The girls played an excellent brand of basketball, never gave up and were lead outstandingly by Coach Ronnie Couch. They were very pleased to make the grand final coming up short to a very strong St Josephs. The boys were terrific winning 3 games on their way to the semi-finals. With coach James Chapman the boys played some excellent basketball. Our Future Stars team coached by Tahlia broke even for the day winning two games and losing two games. These students had a great day and really enjoyed trying to improve their basketball skills. Many thanks to all the parents and friends who came along to support our children.

WARRNAMBOOL SPORTS CUP - VOLLEYBALL

On Thursday 1st September, 4 teams from Years 5/6 participated in the Schools Cup Volleyball Competition held at The Arc.  All teams played 4 games with each team getting a win on the board and a few losses along the way. The students had great fun and we saw lots of improvement throughout these games eventually finishing second overall.  All 4 teams qualified for the semi finals. In very close games the Year 5 and 6 girls won their way into the grand final. The Year 5 boys, and Year 6 Boys should be very proud of their performance and what they had achieved on the day. The Year 6 girls played OLHC in the grand final. It was an excellent game of volleyball with the boys accepting the challenge but unfortunately lost in a nail biting second set.  Then it was our Year 5 girl’s time to shine. Showing some unbelievable persistence going a set down the girls fought back with some excellent serving and shot choice to win the grand final. It was fantastic to see our teams learning to be cooperative team members throughout the day and encouraging each other.  A huge thank you to Amy and Tahlia (Coach of the Year 5 girls team) for their terrific work in coaching the students.  Also thank you to all the parents who came along to support the students. Your efforts were greatly appreciated.
