GARDEN GANGS SURPRISE BUILDING PROJECT
Mrs Doyle, Mrs O'Sullivan and a willing band of Yr 6 DIY workers have been "on the tools" this week working on a surprise building project. This is part of our "Garden Gang" initiative aimed to involve as many students and teachers as possible in garden projects around the school. Our little building team are working on a fabulous surprise for our Kinder and Year 1 students, and we plan to bring on board some Yr 6 "lady tradies" to help with the construction too. To quote one of our student builders, "We are building relationships as well as building a surprise!!!" Watch this space for the big reveal before the end of term. In the meantime, take a sneaky look at our work in progress.
LIFELONG LEARNING......EVEN FOR OUR TEACHERS
Something we pride ourselves on here at St Nicholas, is the belief that we are all lifelong learners. All our staff keep our qualifications up to date through engaging regularly in professional learning and courses, and a number of our staff are also currently completing additional university study. Furthermore, our teaching staff at St Nicholas meet at weekly staff meetings and as Professional Learning Teams. Recently Mrs Jess Clery facilitated a staff meeting aimed at educating our staff about the new K-2 English Syllabus. Take a look at our learning in action!
2022 Competitions & Assessments for Schools (ICAS) - Years 4, 5 and 6 students only
This year our Year 4, 5 and 6 students from St Nicholas School have the opportunity to sit for the ICAS Exams. ICAS is the largest independent competition and assessment program for schools in Australia. Each student receives an individual report as well as a certificate of acknowledgment for participation. These certificates make valuable additions to student portfolios.
Entries have now closed for these Exams.
The Science test will be on Monday 22nd August and Spelling on Thursday 25th August. Dates for the remaining tests will be advised in coming newsletters.
