"Many Wolves .... One Pack"

Term 3 - Week 6

St Nicholas School's focus on engagement and learning was evident again this week with the installation of two quality outdoor table tennis tables and learning stickers on our staircases.

Our table tennis tables provide yet another quality resource for our students in the playground. Having our students engaged in an activity they enjoy, particularly in the less structured environment of the playground, helps their social development. As a staff we also notice a decline in behaviour issues, providing us more time to focus on their learning, wellbeing and faith outcomes.

Thank you to our ever generous PT& F for their contribution and Mick Klasen for installing the tables. I trust our table tennis tables bring joy to many students, and I personally look forward to taking on any challenger.

The addition of learning stickers to our stairs again highlights our core business and surrounding our children with learning opportunities.

Diocesan Athletics

Congratulations to the St Nicholas Athletics team who represented us with distinction at the Diocesan Athletics Carnival on Tuesday. While delighted with the students' performances on the track, their sportsmanship and respectful behaviour left me feeling very proud.

Congratulations also to Belinda Tyrrell, Bree Constable and Sophie Maher who convened such a successful and well organised carnival for all diocesan children.

A big thank you also to our PT& F for running the BBQ on the day. From all accounts the BBQ and canteen was a huge success and ensured everyone was well fed.

Active and healthy students

Our commitment to supporting and developing an active and healthy lifestyle for our students led to St Nicholas employing the services of Jay Stone in Term 2. Jay has represented Australia in athletics and is a level 3 accredited coach.

Jay has been wonderful in teaching and growing our students in many disciplines of athletics. Our children are flourishing under his tutorage, and enjoying the opportunity to be outside and moving.

Yesterday afternoon Jay led a session for our teaching staff on the fundamentals of high jump, shot put, discus and long jump. His passion and knowledge for athletics is outstanding and provided exceptional support for our staff.

We look forward to a long working relationship with Jay, as we continue to foster an active and healthy lifestyle for our children.

Have a wonderful week.

John Clery
