Teaching and Learning

Growing our Learning

This year the Children’s Centre has been learning about the natural environment. They noticed the insects sharing the outdoor space and have been investigating ways to increase sustainability.  We received a donation of an assortment of plants, seeds, garden stakes, compost and a compost bin. The children  have begun replanting the garden beds. Over time, staff have seen an increase in children showing a growing appreciation for the outdoor learning environment as they participate in caring for and maintaining the garden beds. We would also like to acknowledge Carlo, Lindy and Merlyn for the supportive role they’ve played in the sustainable garden project.

Similarly Thi, one of our SSOs,  has implemented elements of sustainability in the Kitchen Garden in the Primary classes with the upper primary teachers. Students have been engaging in the process of planting and harvesting to create nutritious healthy recipes.
