Please Tell Us What You Think!

WE WANT OUR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS/GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. A random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents/caregivers/guardians have been selected to participate in this year’s survey.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September. Those selected will receive an email and a letter in the post with instructions.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the dates period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek. Please contact the general office if you would like further information.

Music News

Our music students from across the College have joined forces to entertain and delight audiences over the past fortnight. Students performed at Morwell Central, Morwell Park, Yinnar and Churchill Primary Schools, and the primary school students sang and danced along. Each performance was met with tremendous applause.

It is a fantastic opportunity to establish connections with the local community through music. The school visits are designed to provide students with the opportunity to see, try and hear a wide variety of musical instruments during engaging and fun-filled performances.

Our students performed at the ‘Love Your Sister’ Family Fun Day at the Traralgon Racecourse on Sunday 21st. We were very grateful to be invited to perform for such a worthy cause and collaborate with local secondary schools in the area. Once again, our music students provided entertainment which was well received by the audience. The highlight of the day for many was meeting Samuel Johnson, the founder of the event.

We would like to thank our fantastic musicians for their wonderful contributions to these various community events.

Hands On Learning

Hands On Learning students have been busy working indoors, mostly due to the wintery weather, so small projects have been the focus. They have built 2 small picnic tables, one of which will be located at the Mathison Park playground in Churchill. Students have cut 21 Glider boxes (Sugar, Ringtail and Greater) for the Latrobe City Council and Landcare Gippsland for distribution to schools for assembly and then strategic location in trees in the local bush to help establish a healthier population.

We have been using recycled timber to make many timber projects, some for the students to take home as desks, timber boxes for Father's Day, (can't show photos as they are a suprise!) Students painted pots for Daffodil Day for the SRC to sell, and for them to take home.
