Year 9 News

Welcome

Welcome again to the Year 9 News. I am sure you are all ready for warmer weather, as are we here at the Year 9 office. It has been a busy few weeks since the last edition with a number of extra-curricular activities happening, as well as loads of action in the classrooms.

Year 9 Camp

Many thanks to all the students who attended the Year 9 Camp. This event was a huge success and the behaviour of every student was outstanding throughout. The original plan was to travel by train, but this was changed to a coach with only a few days’ notice. This worked in our favour, as we were able to travel directly to the accommodation. Students enjoyed some sightseeing on a Yarra River Cruise followed by more sightseeing from the Eureka Skydeck. As the days went on, students enjoyed a tour of the Old Melbourne Gaol, trip to the Melbourne Zoo, ice-skating, and Artvo, to name a few.

Learning Behaviour Updates

The August Learning Behaviour Updates are now available on Compass for parents to access. Congratulations to the 21 high achievers who received an Allstar Award for their performance during this round. For those students who didn’t, support is available. Do not hesitate to contact a member of the Year 9 Team for specific strategies. Some things that all students need to remember are: Being on time to class, bringing appropriate equipment for classes, being respectful towards other people and making sure an attempt is made to complete all set class work.

Common Assessment Tasks

As we approach the end of the term, teachers are preparing to administer their Common Assessment Tasks (CATs). Students can prepare themselves to perform their very best in these assessments by revising notes from previous lessons, seeking assistance from the teacher when necessary, and seeking parent/guardian support at home. For any specific assistance relating to CATs, please do not hesitate to contact the relevant classroom teacher.
