Harry Potter Day

We had a Harry Potter day at Macleod College on the 1st of September. This day was fun because….

I enjoyed the day at Harry Potter, I liked the food there. There were so many sweets, we played some games in the library. I played the minute to win it, My favourite game was the ping pong game.  I had such fun, but my arm started to hurt me after playing point pong many times. I took a picture, ‘have you seen this wizard?’ I collect many points, I think around 45 points. The IELC students also had a Quidditch team.  I didn't know how to play the game, so I just sat and watched. In groups, we did the Harry Potter activity booklet. It was such an awesome day.

On Thursday, we had a lot of things to do, a lot of fun at Macleod College for Harry Potter Day. Everyone wore whatever they liked and that was really cool. Many students were ‘muggles’. I had a lesson with Mr Gooding, and we went out for some exercise, and oh my god, you can’t believe, I now have a lot of dirt and my white shoes, they used to be white. Then we had food and played a quidditch game in the stadium. This game was all new to us, so we didn’t know the rules. We faced defeat, the Year 08 Quidditch team won. Someone had to lose, but that is not what is really important; because what happened this day was amazing. I really enjoyed Harry Potter Day. One day I hope we can have a Quidditch rematch.

My favourite Harry Potter Day activity is The Erised Mirror Maze. When I saw Mrs Karalis demonstrating what to do, I thought it would be easy. But the truth was like a punch in the ear. Walking backwards using a mirror was difficult. The mirror always moved, and I couldn’t see the path under my foot. I tried my best to control my body, but it's not easy to do that. I went the wrong way several times. But at least the Quidditch game was fun. The school stadium was full of students, for the Quidditch tournament, and it was really exciting for me, I feel really proud being involved. This contest was really helpful for me, it is good fitness training. It’s such a good game.

There were a lot of Harry Potters in the classroom. I like the spelling magic, charm potion, and the Harry Potter flag. We were ushered into the stadium around 2:10pm to begin the Quidditch tournament game. The Year 12 students were competing against the teachers. The teacher team won the game, and then we walked to the library to get some food and water. Lots of cakes and lollies were sold there. We also played various games in the library on Friday. The ‘Unicorn Tail’ being my personal favourite. I feel very happy to be involved.

On 1st of September, we celebrated Harry Potter Day. It was amazing to see everyone dressed up. Most were dressed as Harry and Hermione, and some were just in their casual wears. I also was dressed casual, I suppose I was a ‘muggle’. We went to walk out to the library to borrow some books and at lunch the teachers and some students arrange a wonderful snack to buy.  And after all that we went to played Quidditch in the stadium. Not just us, but also the teachers played, and they won. Yahoo! The day turned out to be great after all.

I remember this day as the funniest day of my life. We had a themed event called Harry Potter Day. Yes, it's the Hogwarts school that's all magic, and so we did lots of games and activities. We ate a lot of delicious sweets at Hogwarts, and we played in a Quidditch tournament. Unfortunately, we lost the match. I hope we can win in the future. Ms Ketty was dressed like Hermione. She was in a Hogwarts uniform, beautiful and funny. Then the teachers won the Quidditch game, they cheered, and I was happy for them. Then we went to the library to play some fun games. My favourite game is Quidditch, Ping Pong. I've played this before, and it brings back some memories.

1st September was Harry Potter Day. There were many activities at school on that day. We were allowed to dress freely. There were many people who choose to dress up like the characters in the Harry Potter movies. By the way, I want you to know that I intended to dress up like Hermione Granger, but I didn’t. Ms Karalis was dressed up as Hermione. She wore a Gryffindor robe. We play one of the most famous games, which is the Quidditch Match. Unfortunately, we lost because it was our first time playing. But we still enjoyed playing. We also played the minute to win it games in the school library. My total score is 75. I can’t believe it.

I was thrilled on Harry Potter Day because we could dress up as our favourite characters. In the afternoon, we played games together at IEIC. Although we didn't win the game, I still felt excited that Mrs Karalis won the teacher versus the students game! The next day, we did fun games in the library, for example, Quidditch Ping Pong, Erumpent Horn, Witch’s Hoop Toss, and Unicorn Tail. My favourite activity is Unicorns Tail, this activities need you to snake your body and let the little ball behind your back fall down in one minute. I really like these games because they are hilarious and make me laugh. Finally, I made all the little balls fall, and I got ten points!

Romeo & Juliet

Prompt: This morning, I watched a performance of Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet. This performance was interesting because…

I listen to the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet. The audience felt different emotions. Sometimes you feel great or surprise of what is going to happen.

Alejandro Roca

It gives us a lot of courage to go for whatever you want. Romeo and Juliet were combining two families, while their parents wanted them to stay away from each other. The worst part was that they died in the end.

Sana Qazi

Romeo and Juliet loved each other at first sight. However, the families on both sides had long-standing enmity. Romeo did not know that Juliet’s poisoning was only temporary. They were too young to die because of love.

Jessica Cao

Romeo and Juliet had a bad ending. They died together. Not all stories have a happy ending. Love has many faces.

Alaa Alnashri

It is a love story between two people, and it is very romantic. The family are enemies of each other, but this cannot stop their love. The actors were also good. With all the fight scenes, this is a fantastic story but with a bad ending. The final scene left me sad.

Long Nguyen

This is a love story of Romeo and Juliet. They were brave, but the ending broke me. I cannot imagine the impact of their pain. Shakespeare really made a very successful play.Perry Li

This is a sad story. Juliet was only 13 years old and Romeo was 16 years old. They were very young.

Jim Tran

I like the emotions which Romeo and Juliet have for each other. Romeo loved Juliet as nobody else. With every scene, we got to see Romeo and Juliet’s feelings for each other grow.

German Tsymidanov

Three lovely actors act a tragic romantic story of Romeo and Juliet. They fell in love at first sight. However, their family’s the Capulets and the Montagues are enemies of each other. The apothecary gave them a plan to escape the family hatred. But finally there is a bad ending. Romeo and Juliet died. This is a really special story.

Guan Dong

Romeo and Juliet died and this was a tragic ending. Love is not just between two people. It is also between families. My comment is that a bad ending always make the audience think and learn. Because they are two young, they just think that love is the most important feeling. I think love is an important responsibility. They are just teenagers. They should not think so deeply. Not only that, but they should also think about their families.

Asta Hu

Romeo and Juliet has a romantic story. They love each other as soon as they first saw each other. It was love at first sight. Love is between two people; but you also need to care about the family. They are too young to make such big decisions.
