Regional Athletics - Student report

On Wednesday, 31 August, 14 students from Macleod college competed in the Metropolitan Region Athletics. With Sunny weather, we had a strong start to the day, and we were able to represent the school proudly in line with our school values.

Achieve

Macleod College succeeded in making top 10 placements in all events, with 5 of our athletes progressing to state. These being our Under 14s Relay team consisting of Rose, Zoe, Selena and Mia and Rowan who represented Macleod college in under 16 Javelin. As well as Zoe who was not only able to achieve first in the relay but also in the under 14 girls 1500m race.

Connect

We were able to communicate and connect within our own small group of athletes, cheering and supporting each other on, as well as connecting with other students we met when competing.

Respect

On the day all students representing the school showed respect towards those present be it officials, teachers, participants or each other.

With the next round fast approaching, we wish those representing the school and themselves good luck, and we look forward to finding out how you go on the day.

Basketball

The Year 7 boys did very well on Thursday 8 Sepember at the SSV Banyule Basketball tournament held at Coburg stadium, winning 2 games and losing 2 games ( against very strong opposition) and representing the school extremely well .

Here is the student report with regards to the school values at sport ( By Daniel Toumeh).

The Year 7 boys were really great today representing Macleod.  They showed all the school values and were all respectful to the officials  We hope to do it again next year.

Archie Mansfield

Archie Mansfield has been awarded Best and Fairest in the U16 Yarra Junior Football League. He will also be attending the Northern Knights development trial over the holidays.

Badminton

All the school values were shown during the event, great sportsmanship was shown in the games, they did a fantastic job. Year 7 boys were defeated during all games.

However, the Year 7 girls were very close to making it to the finals before Epping Secondary took out the win. It was a fantastic day, and we had so much fun representing Macleod College.
