Life skills gained

from Sport

We are an accredited Move Well Eat Well School

There have been some big improvements in the student’s basketball skills over the last few weeks.

The Preps are dribbling the ball confidently around the courts and have enjoyed games like ‘Rob the nest’ and ‘Last one in the hoop’ whilst dribbling a ball. Both games closely resemble ‘Musical chairs.’

The Grade 5/6 classes have been displaying effective teamwork skills in half court games. We have a number of students who have played basketball with clubs and these students are very helpful with demonstrating skills and clarifying rules for the rest of the class.

Leadership and teamwork are valuable skills that can be practiced through sport and transferred to other areas of life.

Do you have any basketball courts or hoops close to where you live?

If you have a basketball, see how many hoops you can shoot with your children in 5 minutes or how many times can you pass and catch the ball with the younger kids before it is dropped?

Can you dribble around an obstacle course or down the garden path without losing the ball? It is good exercise and lots of fun.
