Behaviour when travelling to and from school

We remind students of the need to stay mindful of both COVID and general safety and behavioural protocols as they travel to and from school. We have had some reports of pleasing behaviours from our students rendering assistance and support to others in the community, including from Year 11 student leader, Stefan Senicic, and Year 8 student, Oliver Costain, over the past week.

Congratulations to these great examples of our students distinguishing themselves and enhancing the College’s reputation and respect within the community. Timely reminders that our integrity is always on show, and that we must authentically rise to the occasion and respect and consider all in the community.

Last week in the College

In a great week for the College, last we hosted Edmund Rice Schools Sydney Deputy Principals last Tuesday to prepare for the EREA Student Leaders' gathering 2023. Winter Olympian Rohan Chapman-Davies spoke with Year 9, EREA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Officer Andrew Kirkpatrick, from Ignatius Park Townsville, spoke with our Student RAP Team while we thank the “unplugged psychologist” Brad Marshall who spoke about managing screen time to Year 7 and 8, and our parent group on Wednesday.

On Thursday our College Captain elect for 2023 Eamon Boyle had the great honour of presenting an Acknowledgement of Country, with our RAP, Red Dirt Expedition and NAIDOC week Rugby Tour representatives, to the EREA Liberating Education team including Ray Paxton, Jo Hart, Heidi Senior, Brian Garrone, Kate Johnston, Richard Mavros and Yola Beaini at Mary MacKillop Place, North Sydney.

Eamon was supported by Cavan Ryan, Cooper Gillard, Callum Mahura, Sean Balaji, Fergus Fung, Pat Frost, Max Forbes, Rob Oner and Nick Kwan.

On Friday we hosted Edmund Rice Education Beyond Borders UK Schools Leaders Roisin Maguire and Ann Nichols who were highly complimentary of our students and school.

At Monday’s P & F Meeting the opportunity arose to thank President Mrs Sarah Gillard and her team for their long-term sponsorship and support of Outdoor Education and the Pastoral Care Programs of the school. Students Eamon Boyle and Cavan Ryan presented a report on our Reconciliation Action Plan and The Red Dirt Expedition which uses tents, stoves and equipment generously funded by the P & F Association.  In a similar vein Cooper Gillard and Mitchell McGrath presented and thanked the Old Boys' Association and P & F for their support of the NAIDOC Week 1st XV Queensland Rugby Tour, to great acclaim from all present.

Congratulations to all our sporting teams for their great games last weekend.  We also congratulate Mr Steve Quilty who coached his final 1st XI Football game with the College last Saturday.

All in all a great week for the Blue and Gold.
