Wattle Group Term 3, 2022

Wattle Group

In wattle the children have been drawing on CDs which they have enjoyed having a different media to work with, next week are going to do come drawing on leaves. We also added an indigenous story to inspire their drawing and patterns. Other fine motor activities have included some paper tearing which has a focus on the pincer grip and developing prewriting skills. At the playdough table the children have been using scissor and cutters as it’s a great opportunity to do some snipping and cutting and build hand strength

We are focusing on independence across the day and supporting children to manage their lunch box, bags, using the bathroom, and asking for help when they need it. All important skills as we move towards the end of the year.

We are about to put together a family book with photos of each family for the children to use, as it connects kinder and home, and the children will be able to have a look at it and use it when they are feeling like they are missing home. So if you haven’t sent in a family photo please email one to wattle email and we can add it to the book. We have also been reading stories that have a focus on emotions and friendship.

We are also starting the use a visual schedule for the day to support the children know and see what we are doing and how long is until snack or lunch or home time etc. This can support children who may be finding it challenging to get through some part of the session.

We always encourage anything social outside of kinder such as a play date or social interactive sport. Having a play date with a kinder friend can really help foster a stronger connection when they come back to kinder.

The children really enjoy some music and movement. Their favourite songs at the moment are – Sleeping bunnies, Mrs Bunny, and Head shoulders Knees and toes. It is great for confidence, coordination, balance, and crossing the midline.

Thanks
