AgCAREERSTART Program (advertised 25.8.22)

This is a 10-12 month gap-year program designed to kick-start your career in farming.

If you’re under 25 and at the start of your career, it’s a great way to learn new skills, apply your knowledge, and build your confidence.

As a participant you will:

  • Get matched with a host-farmer based on your skills and interests
  • Work and earn for 10-12 months
  • Receive training, mentoring and support to complete a VET course
  • Enjoy access to industry events and a network of industry members and peers

Whether you’re interested in seeing how new technologies are shaping agriculture, learning about sustainable production, or getting your hands dirty in the great outdoors, we have a range of farming experiences to suit your interests and skills.

Perth Royal Show Agricultural Interactive Support Officer

24th September to 1st October 2022

 

Report to - The Agricultural Interactive Support Officer (AISO) will report to WA Farmers Ag Academy Activation Officer (AAAO)

 

Job Overview - Support visitors to WA Farmers Broadacre Cropping display engage with agriculturally based activities.  Hours of work at the show will be 10am – 6pm.

 

Responsibilities and Duties - 

  • Be available to attend WA Farmers Stand at the Perth Royal Agricultural Show (PRAS) 24 September – 1 October 2022. 
  • Attend rostered shift 10 minutes prior to commencement to allow briefing.
  • Assist WA Farmers AAAO to set up display activities and encourage participant involvement throughout day.
  • Use current agricultural knowledge and experience as relevant to the activities, to assist participants understand the importance of broadacre farming in agriculture.

Essential Requirements -

  • Currently enrolled at the Harvey Ag College. 
  • Friendly motivated student with advanced or developing skills in public speaking.
  • Ability to assist participants to safely and respectfully interact with Ag Academy interactive display.
  • Maintain COVID related hygiene requirements
  • Maintain good personal hygiene and standard of appearance

Remuneration

$30 per hour as rostered.  Free daily entry to PRAS.

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR WORK IN THE SHEEP INDUSTRY?  (advertised 22.8.22)

If working with a contractor, pushing up sheep to the crutching cradle (and other tasks depending on the season) sounds like something you are interested in, this may be the job for you.  The work is based in the Pingelly/Yearlering area with accommodation and travel to work provided.  You can have your dog (if trained for this work) with you too.
