With advent of some sunny weather (although still a bit cold), I took the opportunity to take a walk around the College gardens to look at the work Mr Olde and the students have been completing.  I need to congratulate them on the work they have been conducting, as the gardens are a pleasure to walk around.  We are so lucky to be able to have such great amenities at the College for us to all enjoy.

Farm Skills Competition

With the Farm Skills just around the corner we have entered three Year 12 teams to compete.  Staff have commenced training with these students, below are the girls practicing their fencing skills.

Spring Paddocks

With spring just around the corner we will be applying our fertilizer to all our hay and silage paddocks. This is a great opportunity for students’ to be involved in tractor and machinery operation.

Machinery Trust Submissions

Each year the College has the opportunity to apply for funding from the Agricultural Machinery Trust Fund for new machinery, equipment and infrastructure.  Last week Mr Graeme Moore (Chair of the Ag Advisory) and myself, attended the Trust Distribution meeting.  The College was successful in obtaining funds to upgrade the irrigation system in our vineyard, orchard and vegetable growing areas.  Also to erect a shade cover over the sheep yards, to purchase a six seater RTV and sprayer and funding to improve our Farm roads.
