What's happening in our classrooms

Celebration of Learning Expo

On the last day of Term 3, our Grade 1 students held a 'Celebration of Learning' expo. This expo was an opportunity for our students to display the fantastic work they had completed throughout the term and share their new learning.

During our expo, the Grade 1s showed off the amazing animal habitat dioramas they created, complete with a Plasticine model of their chosen animal. In addition to their models, students also displayed the fantastic information reports that they wrote about their animal, as well as a video of the oral presentation they presented to their class.

It was amazing to see so many family members and loved ones visit our expo and it was also great to see our students sharing their work with immense pride.

'Ice Age' Film Study

To further celebrate the end of a big term of Inquiry learning, our Grade 1 students completed a film study of the movie 'Ice Age'. This film study enabled our students to apply their learning about animals and their habitats, whilst exploring how the various living creatures in the film survive in the Arctic environment. Whilst watching the film, students used the following Book Creator journal to record their thinking.

The Grade 1s really enjoyed watching the film and using their understanding of animals and habitats in a different way. They identified lots of different animals in the film and applied their learning from the term's Inquiry unit to explain how the animals were able to survive in the freezing Arctic environment.

Our Grade 1s should be incredibly proud of their amazing achievements in a busy term of Inquiry learning!
