Learning and Teaching in 1/2KG

Term 3 has been another exciting, fun filled and enriching learning experience for the students of 1/2KG. In Maths, we learnt about multiplication and practised making arrays with blocks and counters. We also practised our division skills too, sharing counters with some sea creatures! 

We had fun during our art classes, making lots of art pieces to get ready for our Art Show. We especially loved making the sculptures and the Eric Carle inspired flowers.

The students went on an excursion to the Melbourne Zoo to further deepen their understanding about animals and their habitats. We enjoyed looking at all of the animals and learning about them at the zoo school. 

This term, we continued with our PMP classes every Friday, and practised our balancing, tumbling and eye tracking skills. To finish the term, we had a visit from the people from The Responsible Pet Ownership program. We learnt how to approach a dog to pat it, and also learnt what to do to be safe around dogs we don’t know.

‘I loved going to the pool and doing swimming lessons. It was so much fun.’ - Archie

‘I enjoyed everything that we did in sport because I love sport. In computers, I enjoyed making slideshows and I learnt how to make my letters rainbow colour.’ - Alex

‘I loved going to the zoo and seeing all the animals, especially the butterfly house and looking at the tiger. We looked through a microscope and saw a wing up close.’ - Szabi

‘I loved going to the Melbourne Zoo and seeing the gorillas. They were eating lettuce and they were very big.’ - Ella

‘I love all the activities in class. I learnt about making halves and quarters by making a pizza. We also learnt about animals and went to the zoo to see them.’ - Matteo
